Retention & loyalty

Give people a reason to come back tomorrow.

One game is a visit. A calendar, a streak or a mission gives people a reason to return. Portico keeps each returning participant’s progress, points and rewards on the server, within one brand, and shows them on a page of their own. Play the seasonal calendar and the daily streak below.

Seasonal calendar

Twelve days before a holiday or a sale: a door a day, each a box, a scratch card or a wheel with a small gift and a rarer star prize.

Rewards
A small gift or a rarer star prize behind every door, each a single-use code.
Rules
Each door opens at midnight in the campaign’s time zone, and the server keeps future doors locked. In the template a door opens on its own day only; this demo leaves a missed door open until the calendar ends.
Best for
A newsletter, an app or a loyalty page in the run-up to a holiday, a launch or a sale.

Rules

Best for

01

A calendar with a door for every day

Start from the Seasonal calendar template in the console, with 12 or 24 doors. Each door has its own game and its own prize, and opens at midnight in the campaign’s time zone. The server keeps future doors locked, so changing the date on a phone does not open one early.

02

Daily play and streaks on local time

Set the time zone a campaign runs in. The daily limit resets and a streak moves to the next day at midnight there, not at midnight on a server or on the visitor’s phone. A streak counts the days in a row a recognised participant has played.

03

Recognised when they return, within your brand

A returning participant verifies their email with a 6-digit code, and their details are filled in on the next visit. Recognition is per brand: the same email in two of your brands is two separate participants, and nothing links them. Earlier plays with that email join the record only after the code is confirmed.

04

A page of their own

Each brand has a participant hub. A verified participant sees the rewards they have won, their points and missions, and the campaigns they can play today. Codes they were given are shown again there, to the verified owner and nobody else.

05

Missions made of verified steps

Combine steps such as play three times, finish the quiz and make a purchase, in any order or in sequence. A step counts only for plays the server recorded or for events your business confirmed through the API, a CSV upload or Shopify. Events reported only by a browser never count, an event sent twice advances a mission once, and the reward for completing it is awarded once.

06

Points with an audit trail

Participants earn points for plays, quiz completions, missions and verified purchases, and spend them on a catalogue of rewards you set up. Every change is a line in a ledger that cannot be edited, so any balance can be traced to its source. A balance never goes below zero, even when two spends arrive at once, and a refunded purchase takes its points back.

07

Redeemed at the counter, exactly once

The winner shows a QR code or a short code that rotates while it is on screen. A member of staff with the redeemer role scans it at their location, sees what to hand over and confirms. The reward is redeemed once, and both sides get a receipt with the time, the location and who confirmed it. A redeemer sees the redemption screen and nothing else: no participant lists, exports or reports. A reward can be limited to some of your locations.

08

Gift cards with a value and an expiry date

Import gift card codes with their value, currency, PIN and expiry date. The PIN is sent by email, and the participant can show it again in their hub; it never appears on the game screen. A card close to its expiry date is never handed out, and the console shows the value awarded and outstanding per currency, without ever adding two currencies together.

09

One example: casino and sportsbook retention

An iGaming brand can place a calendar or a mission in its existing CRM journey, with signed identity passing a known player so nobody re-enters their details. The same limits apply: points come only from server-verified events, and any bonus or wallet credit stays with your own platform.
